The (North) Colts were selected from the North-West Durham Leagues and the (South) Colts were made up from players in the North Yorkshire & South Durham League - with "Durham birth qualification". Both Leagues later rightly considered them as 'League matches', but as Durham CCC met all the costs of staging this game and selected both teams - it was also regarded by the "County committee as a Colts match"
