Notes
--> Day 2 Lunch: South Canterbury (1) 113/3 (Andrews ?*, Varcoe 25*)
--> Bowling in the Central Otago first innings adds 2 runs under
The start of the match was delayed by 2 hours because water had seeped under the covers
The last man out in the Central Otago first innings, AJ McHutchon, was given out lbw to a ball which hit him on the head
With weather threatening after lunch on the second day South Canterbury tried in vain to score the runs required for the first innings lead but on the fall of the sixth wicket the rain set in and no further play was possible with the match being abandoned about 5pm
With no result being achieved, the match was replayed in Alexandra on 20th and 21st January 1979
