Rain delayed the start of the match until 2.25pm on the first day
LJ Pierce was adjudged lbw when on 21 in the Ashburton County first innings but was unhappy with the decision because he had apparently edged the ball on to his pads which the Nelson captain, DV Spence, agreed with so sportingly called him back
BE Congdon and BL Hampton 100 partnership in 85 minutes for the third wicket in the Nelson first innings
