Match notes
Play in the match commenced at 11.0 a.m. and concluded at 5.30 p.m. on each of the first and second days and at 5.26 p.m. on the dismissal of DW Hourn on the third day. New South Wales Colts recorded new record partnerships for the first and fifth wicket, their fifth wicket partnership of 268 being the highest partnership for any wicket recorded in the competition. For Queensland Colts D Urquhart and NA James added a new eighth wicket partnership record of 113 runs. AR Jones injured his arm while fielding after which twelfth man RC Large took the field in his stead. Jones batted at number eleven only to allow D Urquhart the chance to reach his century, which he failed to do. The Queensland scorer, HA Crowton was unwell on the third morning and was unable to continue his duties. JE Sandes took his place for the day.
The score sheets do not indicate the number of balls faced by each batsman, nor is the time of each batsman's 50 runs recorded on the score sheets though it has been noted D Urquhart reached his 50 in 205 minutes and NA James reached his 50 in 71 minutes. The times of each 50 runs of partnerships is not recorded on the score sheets.
