Notes
--> J Bayton made his debut in First-Class matches
--> RA Veck (1) equalled his previous highest score of 14 in First-Class matches
Kent had Stevens, White and Yalden as given men. The team also included Bayton (also Boyton or Boynton), assumed to be John although George is possible. He was not a Kent man but is known to have been associated with the Hambledon Club; it is possible that Kent arrived one short and he made up the numbers. The ground name has been modernised: in the 18th century it was 'Cheden'.
SB has the visitors as England but several newspapers confirm that it was Kent with three of Surrey.
