Player: | AJ Hall, GA Hick, Alok Kapali |
Event: | ICL 20s Indian Championship 2008/09 |
DateLine: 3rd November 2008
With Chennai Superstars almost confirming a birth in the semifinals of the ICL, not surprising considering that they are the first team to score more than 200 runs in the tournament. The competition is hotting up for the remaining three spots in the tournament. With Hyderabad Heroes and Royal Bengal tigers hot on the heels they would most probably want to seal the semifinal spot in the next couple of days.Hence one spot is left open for which there are many takers.
Lahore Badshahs look very ordinary compared to the previous stint where they were almost invincible. Inzamam would want to marshall his resources better to get his side to the semis. Dhaka Warriors are the ones to watch out for.The players who had left Bangladesh to come and join the ICL had Alok Kapali scoring the first hundred of the ICL. They look the dark horse to reach the semifinal.
Graeme Hick who recently retired from first class cricket joined the ICL and is playing for Chandigarh Lions. Chandigarh Lions is led by Andrew Hall who would not only want to win the remaining matches but also want to improve their net run rate to stand any chance of qualifying for the semis.
Delhi Giants, Ahmedabad Rockets, and Mumbai Champs disappointed right through the tournament. They are surely out of the race.
It will be interesting to see which are the four teams that will qualify for the semifinals and who will play whom. The crowds are loving it. Ahmedabad especially was jam packed with audience capacity of 40,000. Hopefully crowds will get a great contest to watch in the semifinals and finals.
