Brief profile of Central Polytechnic India Pistons ground
by CricketArchive staff reporter

Ground:Central Polytechnic India Pistons Ground, Chennai

DateLine: 15th February 2007

One of the comparatively newer grounds in Chennai to host senior division league games, Buchi Babu Trophy and representative matches – the first league match was played in 1997 - the CPT - IP ground has a charm all its own. It is owned by the Central Polytechnic and is maintained by India Pistons one of the corporates who have always been one of the leading promoters of cricket in the city. On sheer vastness it is probably the biggest ground in the city. The well looked after turf surface tends to favour batting even though the wicket might be a bit slow paced. The outfield has been nicely maintained by the ground staff who tend to it with great care. The practice wickets are good and on one side of the ground is situated the TE – IPL Academy run by TE Srinivasan the former Test cricketer who was with India Pistons for many years. Situated just off the IT corridor it is a lovely venue on which cricketers look forward to playing.
