Former Ramsbottom professional Wasim Raja has died at the age of 54. The colourful left hander suffered a fatal heart attack whilst playing for Surrey Over 50s at High Wycombe.
 
Raja was professional at Ramsbottom in 1975 and 1976, hitting 1028 runs at 54.1 with 68 wickets at 14.1 in his first season and scoring 867 runs at 37.7 with 55 wickets at 16.3 in the long hot summer of 76. His season at Acre Bottom in 1975 was interrupted by his inclusion in the Pakistan side in the first World Cup. 
Raja played in 57 Tests for Pakistan between 1973 and 1985 hitting 2821 runs at 36.2 and taking 51 wickets at 35.8 with his leg spin.
