Alistair Richardson had an unremarkable First-class career, with two matches, fourteen runs and two wickets for Derbyshire. However, of note is the fact Alistair was the third generation of Richardsons to play for Derbyshire. His father George was a seam bowler for the Peakites from 1959-1965, and more significantly, his grandfather Arthur (also an A.W Richardson) played for Derbyshire from 1928-1936, and was captain from 1931-1936, and he remains the only man to skipper Derbyshire to the County Championship title. Alistair had a decent First-class debut in 1992, taking 2-38 against Glamorgan (with Matthew Maynard being one of his scalps), and despite being a regular wicket taker in the Second XI, he could also be expensive, and Derbyshire decided against offering him terms for 1995.
