| Player: | RM Khan |
DateLine: 25th October 2005
Rawait Khans last appearance for Derbyshire was as a no.9 expected to bowl key overs in a totesport league match, a strange role for a top-order batsman whose bowling was firmly in the occasional category. Although playing in a mostly struggling team, Khan did at times look the part, none more so than in an excellent knock of 91 (in only his second First-class match) against the 2002 Indian tourists, in a line up which included Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. Khan was at his most effective when digging in at no.3 for an attritional innings. Khan now plays for Shropshire in Minor Counties cricket and has appeared for Pakistan Customs in Pakistani domestic cricket on a number of occasions. His brother Zubair played one match for Derbyshire in 2000.
