| Scorecard: | Lancashire v Nottinghamshire |
Summary for Day 2
Only 39 overs play was completed on the second day of this County Championship match versus Nottinghamshire, due to rain and bad light shortly after the luncheon interval. In the first sixteen overs, Lancashire captured three wickets to take control. Contrasting batting techniques from Darren Bicknell (30 runs from 104 balls) and Chris Cairns (51 runs from 73 balls) enabled the visitors to recover to 113-3 before the bad weather intervened.
Bowling Performance of the Day
Peter Martin showed his experience and skill by completing 7 overs for 21 runs. He beat the bat on numerous occasions, and deserved his wicket.
Batting Performance of the Day
Chris Cairns was the only Nottinghamshire batsman to dominate the bowling. He struck 8 boundaries in his unbeaten innings of 51. Without this injection of urgency into the Nottinghamshire innings, the morning session would have been very tedious entertainment.
Fielding Performance of the Day
With the outfield holding the ball up, both Mal Loye and Chris Schofield worked hard to chase the ball and restrict the number of runs.
Highlight of the Day
James Anderson's dismissal of Jason Gallian of the sixth ball of the game.
Lowlight of the Day
Once again the weather spoilt the day - 65 overs were lost
