Harry Carr was the son of the newspaper magnet Sir Emsley Carr, and made one appearance for Glamorgan, against Cambridge Univeristy in 1934. He had previously appeared in first-class cricket for H.D.G.Leveson-Gower`s XI after coming down from Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
 
Whilst up at Cambridge, Carr also won Blues for billiards and golf, and after graduating he worked as a journalist on his father`s newspaper The News of the World.
