John Davis, and his younger brother Roger, both had successful schoolboy sporting careers at Blundell`s. John was in the Devon boarding school`s 1st XI in the late 1950`s, before going up to St.John`s College, Oxford where he won a Blue in 1963.
 
The left-arm spinner made his Glamorgan debut in 1959 against the Indian tourists at Swansea, and after coming down from Oxford he joined the county`s staff in 1963. Davis made a further 13 appearances for Glamorgan until 1967 when he went into teaching.
