- This match was the 1669th Test in cricket history.
- Umpires Simon Taufel and Rudi Koertzen were officiating in their ninth and 44th Test respectively.
- Wavell Hinds completed his 2000 runs when his score reached 26 in first innings on first day. He was playing his 35th Test and 61st innings. Hinds became 29th West Indian and 223rd batsman overall to do so.
- Brian Lara (191) scored his 22nd hundred in 98th Test. He became the highest run-scorer for West Indies when his score reached 107. He moved ahead of Viv Richards who had a tally of 8540 runs from 121 Tests and 182 innings. Lara, at the end of this Test, has an aggregate of 8626 runs from 98 Tests and 172 innings.
- Mark Vermeulen (118) scored his maiden hundred in seventh Test. His innings was also the third highest by a Zimbabwean against West Indian.
- Craig Wishart was getting out in nineties for the third time in his career. He had earlier been dismissed for 93 against West Indies at Harare in 2001 and for 94 against Bangaldesh at Dhaka in 2001-02. Wishart now holds the distinction of recording most nineties for Zimbabwe.
- West Indies second innings total of 128 runs was their lowest ever total against Zimbabwe. The previous lowest was 147 at Port-of-Spain in 1999-00.
- Zimbabwes second innings total of 104 runs was the second lowest achieved by any side on Zimbabwean soil. The lowest still remains 102 by Zimbabwe against South Africa at Harare in 1999-00.
- The disparity of 273 runs between Zimbabwes two innings was their second largest. The record is of 432 runs. In the Harare Test in 2001 Zimbabwe scored 563-9 after being dismissed for 131 in the first.
- The disparity of 353 runs between West Indies two innings was the highest ever by a side against Zimbabwe. The previous record was held by England who were dismissed for 147 in their second innings after making 374 in the first at Nottingham in 2000 a disparity of 227 runs. The disparity was also the fourth largest for West Indies in all Tests.
- Fidel Edwards bagged a pair in the Test. He provided the 60th instance of a West Indian suffering this fate. He also became the second West Indian (after Adrian Griffith) and seventh batsman overall to achieve this dubious distinction against Zimbabwe.
