HUMPHREYS, George Thomas.

Born at Brighton, Sussex, 28th March 1845.
Died at Preston, Brighton, Sussex, 18th December 1894.
His younger brother W.A.Humphreys played for Sussex 1871-96 and his nephew W.A. jun. for Sussex 1898-1900. He played in 32 first-class matches, all for Sussex, 1869-86. He was engaged as coach at Brighton College 1871-72. In 1874 he was living at 177 Edward Street, Brighton and working as a shoe maker. He died suddenly of a broken blood vessel.
The 1881 Census finds him living at 14 Preston Road, Preston, Sussex, aged 36, where he is a boot manufacturer and a widower. He has two children Bessie aged 7 and George H. aged 5. He had two domestic servants.
