HARGREAVES, Frederick William.
Amateur.
Born at Brook House, Blackburn, Lancashire, 16th August 1858.
Died at Wilpshire, Blackburn, Lancashire, 5th April 1897.
Educated at Malvern, he played his club cricket with the East Lancashire Club in Blackburn. He was selected by Lancashire for just the one first-class match in 1881. He was also a fine soccer player for Blackburn Rovers, and played for England v Wales in 1880 and 1881 and v Northern Ireland in 1882.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at Bankhouse, 44 Wellington Street, Blackburn, aged 22, unmarried, a Bar student (law), with his younger brother John, aged 20, an articled clerk, solicitors, and sister Margaret E. aged 18. There is a housekeeper and a domestic servant.
