CRAWFORD, Frank Fairbairn.
Amateur.
Born at Hastings, Sussex, 17th June 1850.
Died at the military base hospital, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, 16th January 1900.
He was educated at Maidstone and entered the Army with the Royal Artillery in 1873. He went to India with his regiment in 1874/5 and on his return was soon posted to South Africa. His cricket was limited by his absence from England, but he still managed to turn out for Kent fifteen times 1870-79 and for Natal five times 1889/90.
At the time of his death he had reached the rank of Major and was serving with the Veterinary Department of the Royal Artillery.
No trace of him could be found in the 1881 Census he was probably in South Africa.
