BLACKMAN, Arthur.
Amateur.
Born at Dartford, Kent, 13th October 1853.
Died at Preston, Sussex, 6th April 1908.
He was a half brother of Frederick Martin, a professional cricketer who played 229 times for Kent and twice for England.
Arthur Blackman was a schoolmaster who played once for Surrey (1878), three times for Kent (1879-80) and fifteen times for Sussex (1881-87). For Brighton & District Teachers v Eastbourne in 1881 he scored 255 not out.
The 1881 Census lists him as Arthur R.Blackman, aged 29 and a schoolmaster, living at 4 Yardley Street, Preston, Sussex, with his 28 year old wife Sarah, who was born at Hendon, Middlesex.
