- This was the 31st match between these two sides. The record now reads : Pakistan 27, Zimbabwe 2, tied one, abandoned one.
- Grant Flower was playing his 200th match. He became second Zimbabwean after brother Andy (213) and 33rd player overall to reach this landmark.
- Rashid Latif was playing his 150th match. He became 15th Pakistani and 71st player overall to do so.
- Danish Kaneria was making a comeback into Pakistan side after about 18 months. He had made his debut against Zimbabwe at this same ground on 31-10-2001. He thus missed 46 matches for Pakistan in between his two appearances.
- Latif was captaining Pakistan after a gap of about five years. He had last captained Pakistan against South Africa at CapeTown on 23-04-1998.
- Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Gul were making their debut for Pakistan.Now 145 players have represented Pakistan in shorter version of the game at the highest level.
- The 58 run-partnership between Younis Khan and Rashid Latif was Pakistans best for sixth wicket against Zimbabwe. This obliterated the previous record stand of 52 between Yousuf Youhana and Moin Khan at Gujranwala on 20-11-1998.
- Abdur Razzaq slammed seven sixes, six of which came in the last 12 balls. He now holds the record of hitting most sixes in an innings against Zimbabwe. The previous record was of six sixes which was jointly held by Indias Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Jadeja, Saurav Ganguly, Sri Lankas Asanka Gurusinha and fellow countryman Shahid Afridi.
- Pakistan batsmen scored 73 runs off their last five overs with 47 runs off the last two.
- Zimbabwean bowlers conceded 24 wides in Pakistan innings. They just failed to beat their best performance. Zimbabwe had conceded 25 wides to Kenya in 1999 World Cup game at Taunton.
- Andy Blignaut sent down 11 wides second worst performance by a Zimbabwean. Heath Streak had sent down 12 wides against Sri Lanka at Colombo SSC on 21-02-1996.
- Abdur Razzaq won Man of the Match award for the ninth time in his career.
