This return match ended as a draw. The teams had been due to play each other at Barnsley at the end of the previous week, but rain prevented a ball being bowled. The Yorkshire 2nd XI declaration left Surrey 2nd XI to score 238 runs to win in two and a half hours. Elam's two innings of 97, with 10 fours scored in three hours, and 81 with 1 six and 10 fours, an innings of two hours and 20 minutes, were the highest of the match.
