Match notes
Play commenced at 11.00 a.m. on the first day and at 11.02 a.m. on the second day with play concluding at 6.30 p.m. on the first day. The match reached a conclusion at 6.15 p.m. on the second day.
PA Slocombe failed a medical check before the match and was replaced in the eleven by Vidler who was originally selected as twelfth man. TB Towers was later brought to the ground and on the second day fielded in place of Hilditch who was ill.
In each innings the Queensland Colts innings was off to a reasonable start but then collapsed quite inexplicably. The batting of the New South Welshmen showed there was nothing wrong with the wicket to cause such collapses for they managed runs quite comfortably. The New South Wales innings was closed as soon as Bennett reached his century.
New South Wales gained twenty-two points for the match, ten for their victory, five for bowling and seven for batting. Queensland gained just two points for bowling.
