South Queensland Colts began poorly in the face of some quite hostile bowling by Keding and later by Ball and six wickets had fallen with the total on 67. At this time Grant Ledger came to the wicket and proceeded to take the attack to the bowlers. When North Queensland Colts batted Brown, Marsh and Barrett, in that order, were soon disposed of. Parsons then played a fine innings, hitting eight fours and one six and received good support from Rice and Gartrell. North Queensland took the first innings lead with four wickets still in hand.
