Match notes
South Australia started badly but the middle order managed some respectability to the total but 227 was never going to be anything like enough to cause the Queensland batsmen any concern. By stumps Queensland had reduced the lead to 149 with still nine wickets in hand.
On day two May brought up his first century of this series and with a number of batsmen right down the order all making quite useful contributions a total of 421 resulted with the final wicket falling to the last ball of the match.
With Western Australia also winning in this round a good tussle was looming in the final round to decide the fate of the A.C.B. Shield. Paul Toohey was also throwing out a challenge for the Bill O'Reilly Bowling Trophy.
