			Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the first in the two match Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka from the Jade Stadium in Christchurch.
			New Zealand, who have been without a Test match since being defeated by South Africa in Johannesburg in May 2006, aim to return to winning ways against Sri Lanka, the side who toured just two years ago, but returned home early from the trip following the horrific Asian Tsunami.
			The home side have made a number of changes to their squad for the series. Opening batsman Mathew Sinclair is back after coach John Bracewell admitted that he has made mistakes in trying to blood middle-order players at the top of the order. Pacemen Iain O'Brien and Michael Mason are also back as is early order batsman Craig Cumming.
			Sri Lanka will go into the series with a very much tried and tested squad which does sees Mahela Jayawardene retain the captaincy instead of Marvan Atapattu, who is not even in the Test line-up.
			This will be the 23rd Test match between the two sides, with New Zealand winning 8 and Sri Lanka 4 and 10 draws. The first time these sides were pitted together was at this very ground back in March 1983 when New Zealand won by an innings of 25 runs. The last time they met also saw New Zealand win by an innings - and 38 runs on this occasion, at Wellington in April 2005.
			That first match was the only previous time that Sri Lanka have played a Test at this ground.
			This is the 40th Test match to be played at the ground - but New Zealand have not got the best record here. They have won just 7 while the visitors have secured 16 wins and there have been 16 draws.
			The highest individual score for New Zealand v Sri Lanka is Martin Crowe's 299 at Wellington in 1990/91 while Sri Lanka's equivalent is 267 by Aravinda de Silva in the same game.
			The best bowling performance for New Zealand in these games is 6-54 by Chris Martin at Wellington in 2004/05. Sri Lanka's best is 6-72 by Kumar Dharmasena at Galle in 1997/98.
			Brian Jerling of South Africa and ICC umpire of the year Simon Taufel are the men in charge for this two-match series while former Indian pace bowler Javagal Srinath is in the match referee's seat.
