4.00 pm on the second day, after Hertfordshire had required in their second innings 220 runs to win. The match between the two teams at Bushey in June had been won by Bedfordshire by 9 runs. For the winners, Wharmby took 9 wickets in the match for 81 runs, including 5 for 46 in the Hertfordshire first innings and Grierson 9 for 83, including 5 for 50 in the first innings. Wharmby played two innings of 52 and 51, the latter containing 3 fours. Orr scored 53. For the losers, Shelford took 12 wickets in the match for 100 runs, including 7 for 78 runs in the Bedfordshire first innings and 5 for 22 in the second. The debutant Bonsey scored 55. Holdstock did not bat in the Bedfordshire second innings due to a family bereavement.
