This return match was drawn with Hertfordshire winning on first innings. The match between the two teams in July at Hitchin had been won by Hertfordshire. The Hertfordshire score of 521-5 declared was the highest of the season. For the visitors, there were 24 fours, 6 threes and 11 twos in Golding's 196, scored in 3½ hours, 1 five, 6 fours and 4 threes in Titchmarsh's 103 not out and 7 fours and 4 threes in Butcher's 100. Cowley scored 58 not out. In the Hertfordshire innings, Butcher and Golding put on 271 for the third wicket, and Titchmarsh and Cowley 160 unbroken for the sixth wicket. For Cambridgeshire K G Reid's 75 included 9 fours, and Coulson's 62 4 fours. In the Cambridgeshire first innings, K G Reid and C Pigg added 85 for the last wicket. The 44 overs bowled in an innings by Coulson were the second highest of the season, and the 165 runs conceded by Gray were the most during an innings.
