England won the toss and will bowl
Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the match 38 in the 2007 Cricket World Cup where a tottering England side take on the always-dangerous Bangladesh in the Super Eights match number 14 from the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
England enter the last chance saloon, which is already home to the Bangladeshis. A defeat for either side will end their interest in coming back to his ground for the final in a couple of weeks time. As always against the so-called minnows, England are expected to win but so were South Africa just four days ago in Guyana.
Both England and Bangladesh have two points from four games and even a win here, while it will give them some hope, certainly won't guarantee either a place in the last four. South Africa are the team they are all chasing but they are four points clear of England in fifth so any result here will still see them outside the necessary places.
A youthful Bangladesh know they can beat England and England know they can beat Bangladesh. What a contest this will be. Who will win? A big hitting Bangladesh against a desperate England. It would be hard not to back England for this match.
The atmosphere here at the newly redeveloped Kensington Oval should be electric. It's now a 32,000 capacity stadium and the biggest and oldest in the Caribbean. This is just the 20th ODI to be held on this ground since the first in 1985. Granted, the West Indies are not in action here today but they haven't won here in the last eight ODIs ince 1999. Bridgetown used to be a fortress for West Indies cricket.
The leading run scorer on this ground is Brian Lara with 515 in 11 matches (average 57.22) while the head wicket-taker is Curtly Ambrose with just 9 from 10 games (average 43.77).
This will be the eighth time that these teams have played in ODIs and, unsurprisingly, England lead 7-0. The last time they met was in the NatWest Series of 2005 involving Australia and the Tigers were comprehensively crushed on each occasion by England - once by 10 wickets and another by 168 runs after England racked up a mammoth 391-4.
The highest score by England v Bangladesh is 152 by Andrew Strauss at Trent Bridge in 2005.
The highest score by Bangladesh v England is 94 by Mohammad Ashraful at Trent Bridge in 2005.
The best bowling by England v Bangladesh is 6-31 by Paul Collingwood at Trent Bridge in 2005.
The best bowling by Bangladesh v England is 3-57 by Manjural Islam Rana at Leeds in 2005.
Steve Bucknor and Simon Taufel are the two umpires for today's game and they are joined by Rudi Koertzen as the third umpire and Billy Bowden as fourth. Jeff Crowe is the match referee.
