Burnley have signed 34 year-old Sri Lankan all rounder Jeeva Kulatunga as professional for 2008.

Kulatunga, who will be Burnley's first Sri Lankan professional, has been plying his trade in the Ribblesdale League in recent seasons, last season at Settle and prior to that he was at Barnoldswick between 2003 and 2006, scoring over 1,000 runs in his first two seasons.
Kulatunga appeared in the Lancashire League last season as sub professional for Rawtenstall against Rishton in the opening match and in 2005 he was Haslingden's paid man in the epic 20/20 Final against Lowerhouse.
He is a right handed batsman who has scored 6571 runs at 31.6 in 151 First-class matches since his debut in 1990-91. His right arm medium pace has accounted for 62 victims with a best of 5-67.
The Sri Lankan has appeared for the Sri Lanka Board President's XI against England and Sri Lanka A but he never made the transition to a full international.
Kulatunga is capable of scoring heavily as his 195 against Whalley and 194 against Cherry Tree demonstrate but in his forays in the Lancashire League he has yet to produce his best form.
