Player:Syed Rasel

DateLine: 20th February 2007

The 2005-06 will always be a memorable one for Syed Rasel for it not only propelled him into the international arena but he also became a regular member of the Bangladesh side. Actually it all started when he demolished Kent while playing for Bangladesh A on their tour of England in August 2005. Rasel had figures of seven for 50 in the first innings and match figures of ten for 91 and it was obvious that he was not just another medium pace bowler. He was immediately elevated to the senior ranks for the tour of Sri Lanka where he made his Test and ODI debuts. Bowling with accuracy and hostility the left armer took six wickets in his first two games including four for 129 in the second Test at Colombo a match Bangladesh lost by an innings. In the return home series Rasel took two for 28 at Bogra in February 2006 as Sri Lanka suffered their first ever one-day defeat against Bangladesh. With his good control over pace and swing Rasel also played a leading role in Bangladeshs clean sweep of the ODI series against Kenya in August 2006.
