Born 24.4.1852 Whitle, Derbyshire

 

Thought to be a professional at South Lancashire in 1864 and the Albion Club in 1868. By 1870 he was with the Liverpool, Atlas Club. On 2nd and 3rd June 1871 he opened the innings for Sixteen Colts of Lancashire against the Manchester Club and Ground, scoring 2 and 39 - equal top score for the Colts. He was then with the Liverpool Club as he was in 1872, when he scored 6 and 0 in the Colts Match, and in 1873, when he scored 0 and 3.

 

On 21st and 22nd July 1873 he played in his only first-class match, Derbyshire v Lancashire at Derby, when he scored 2 and 11 opening the Lancashire innings..

 

At the time of the 1881 Census he was lodging at 10 Mountjoy Street, Everton, Liverpool, with the family of James Shepley, a millwright. James Braddock is unmarried, aged 29 born at Glossop (as are Mr. & Mrs.Shepley), and a professional cricketer.

 

In August 1883 he umpired in the match between Gloucestershire and Surrey at Cheltenham.

 

No trace can be found in the 1901 Census.
