Ieuan Williams was a 22 year old right-handed batsman with Brynamman. Like a number of promising youngsters in the 1930`s, he benefited from Maurice Turnbull`s decision for Glamorgan to blood young Welsh cricketers rather than wasting money on hiring modest professionals and has-beens from other counties.
After some impressive performances for Brynamman C.C., Liverpool University and the county`s Colts team, Williams was drafted into the Glamorgan team at the end of August 1931 for their matches with Gloucestershire at the Arms Park and Nottinghamshire at Swansea. It proved to be something of a baptism of fire as Williams only scored ten runs in four innings, and the student was not called up again.
After completing his dentistry studies, Williams went into practice in Bridgend, Chester, London and Poole.
