COOPER, John Frederick.
Amateur.
Born at Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, 14th February 1855.
Died at Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, 30th January 1928.
The son of John Cooper, solicitor, of Henley-on-Thames. He was educated at Marlborough College, where he was a member of the cricket eleven 1873-73. He appeared in one first-class match, playing for the M.C.C. His county cricket was for Shropshire 1874-75 and Wiltshire 1878. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1879 and eventually became the Town Clerk of Henley.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was unmarried, living at his parents home at Badgemore, Henley-on-Thames, aged 26, a solicitor. His father John, aged 62, a solicitor and his mother Ellen aged 57, also had four unmarried daughters living at home, Annie E. aged 29, Ellen L. aged 27, Janet G. aged 22 and Marion aged 20. Also present was John C. Cooper, a cousin, aged 35, unmarried and an insurance agent.
