This rain-interrupted return match was drawn. The game between the two teams at Stourbridge in June had been won by Northamptonshire. Bad weather delayed the start until 3.00 pm on the first day. For the home side, Thompson performed the 'hat-trick' in the Worcestershire second innings, his victims being Arnold, Fereday and Millward. In the Northamptonshire first innings, H E Kingston and Horton added 89 runs for the ninth wicket. It was a new record for the competition and the highest of the season. For Worcestershire, Arnold's 8 wickets for 56 runs in the first Northamptonshire innings was statistically the best innings bowling performance of the season.
[Missing: Umpires; in Worcestershire 1st inns fall of 2nd and 3rd wickets.]
