Born 29.12.1846 Radcliffe Bridge, Pilkington.
Died 6.7.1923 Hangleton, Sussex.

Educated at Shrewsbury which he entered in 1859 and left in 1864. He was a huntsman, a member of the school rowing eight, a member of the football eleven and also a member of the cricket eleven, being captain in his last year.

He resided at Summerfield, Ashton-on-Mersey, Cheshire and played his club cricket for the Longsight Club.

His only game for Lancashire was on 5th and 6th June 1874, when he opened the innings against Derbyshire at Old Trafford, without any marked success.

At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at Summer Bank, Ashton-on-Mersey, aged 34, a cotton spinner, with his wife Emma M. aged 34 born at Stafford, and their son William H.P., aged 2, and their daughter Elsie M. aged 3. They have three domestic servants.

In 1901 he is living at Harbors Road, Ashton-on-Mersey, aged 53, living on own means, with his son Eric S. aged 17, and daughter Elsie M. aged 23. There are two domestic servants.
