South Wales Cricket Club

The South Wales Cricket Club was the first team to represent the region, playing a series of fixtures against English teams and other Welsh sides between 1859 and 1886.

Many of the leading players in the West Country also turned out for the South Wales club, including WG Grace, who scored 170 for the South Wales CC against the Gentlemen of Sussex in July 1864.
