A short History

Cardiff Arms Park was the ground where Glamorgan played their inaugural match in 1889, as well as their first-ever County Championship match in 1921.
Up until 1966, the Arms Park was the county's base in the Welsh capital city, and following work on the creation of a National Rugby Stadium, Glamorgan moved to Sophia Gardens in 1967, just a mile or so to the north.
These pages outline the history of the Arms Park cricket ground, in addition to providing further information about the history of cricket in Cardiff, which in 2009 will host an Ashes Test when England play Australia in the Welsh capital city.
