The format agreed by the captains was for 96 overs on each of the two days with neither side having more than 96 overs batting. During the Essex innings Scott kept wicket for the first session and then again from the start of over 81 (new ball taken) until the end at over 96. Nash kept wicket for the whole of the second session and up to over 80.
