Staffordshire won by an innings and 70 runs at 3.00 pm on the second day. Lincolnshire were bowled out in the morning session and Staffordshire batted for 15 minutes before lunch. For the winners, there were 6 fours in Bourne's 85, scored in 1 hour and 50 minutes, Vost scored 62, an innings of 1 hour and 20 minutes, and there were 5 fours in Hollowood's 53, scored in two hours. In the Staffordshire innings, Bourne and Hollowood put on 136 runs for the first wicket, and Vost and Dearing 63 runs for the ninth wicket. Barnes took 9 wickets in the match, including 8 for 31 in the Lincolnshire first innings. For the losers, Thompson nearly carried his bat throughout the innings, but he was the last man out. He scored 99, an innings which lasted 3ΒΌ hours. In the Lincolnshire second innings, Thompson and Bavin added 64 runs for the eighth wicket and Thompson and Wells-Cole 58 for the ninth wicket.
