Wiltshire won this return match early in the afternoon of the second day by an innings and 2 runs. Wiltshire had also won the encounter between the two teams when they met at Trowbridge earlier in the month. For the winners, Mitchell took 11 wickets in the match for 73 runs. Taunton top-scored with 46. For the losers, Udal top-scored with 23. The St Giles Park ground had been opened in August the year before and it was the first time a championship match had been played on it. The Earl of Shaftesbury was the President of the Dorset County Cricket Club.
