Lincolnshire won this return match by an innings and 81 runs before lunch on the second day, after Cambridgeshire followed on 158 runs behind. It was the first Championship match played at Ely. The match between the two sides a week before at Spalding had also been won by Lincolnshire. For the winners, Ward scored 56 with 9 fours and debutant Waite 55. On the second morning, a shower interrupted play early on for 15 minutes, but the Lincolnshire bowlers had no trouble in finishing off the Cambridgeshire second innings in the morning session in around 1½ hours.
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; part fall of wickets; in Lincolnshire innings boundaries in Waite's 55; precise time completed.]
