This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
Staffordshire won by 176 runs at 4.30 pm on the second day. The Staffordshire declaration left Nottinghamshire 2nd XI 3 hours and 5 minutes to score the 211 runs required to win. On the first day, rain delayed play for 1 hours after lunch and bad light stopped play 15 minutes early. A drying sun and wind made the wicket very difficult for batsmen on the afternoon of the second day. For the winners, S F Barnes took 13 wickets in the match for 48 runs, including 8 for 34 in the Nottinghamshire first innings. Bourne's two innings of 57 and 81 each contained 5 fours. Cursham top-scored for Nottinghamshire with 30, and J W Barnes took 9 wickets in the match for 108 runs. 3000 spectators were estimated to have been present on the first day.
