Bedfordshire won by ten wickets at 3.00 pm on the second day, after Suffolk followed on 132 runs behind. For the winners, Morcom took 12 wickets in the match for 169 runs, including 7 for 92 in the Suffolk first innings. Wharmby's 118 contained 10 fours, 11 threes and 8 twos, scored in just over 2½ hours. Squire scored 63. In the Bedfordshire first innings, Wharmby and Squire put on 168 runs for the third wicket. For the losers, Ireland scored 73. Lewis was dismissed first ball in both Suffolk innings. This was the first use of this venue for a championship match.
