Glamorgan won this return match by an innings and 79 runs at 3.55 pm on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. Play on the second day was affected by drizzle and bad light. For the winners, Riches carried his bat in the Glamorgan innings for 178 not out, scored in 4½ hours, an innings containing 14 fours, 7 threes and 26 twos. Riches's score was the second highest innings of the season. In the Glamorgan innings, Riches and Whittington put on 100 runs for the first wicket, and Riches and Ellis added 80 runs for the seventh wicket. Creber took 11 wickets in the match for 110 runs, including 8 for 65 in the Northumberland second innings. The game between the two sides at Jesmond in the previous week had also been won by Glamorgan.
