This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change. Cambridgeshire won this return match by an innings and 255 runs on the second day, after Suffolk followed on 392 runs behind. The game between the two sides at Bury St Edmunds in July had been won by Suffolk. There were 3 fives, 16 fours, 8 threes and 10 twos in Tebbutt's 149, scored in 175 minutes, and 1 five, 10 fours, 11 threes and 7 twos in Swann-Mason's 115, an innings of 165 minutes. Gilbert scored 87 and Hobbs 57. In the Cambridgeshire innings, Swann-Mason and Tebbutt put on 223 runs for the second wicket, which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season, and Hobbs and Gilbert 100 for the fourth wicket. For the losers, Mustard's 58 included 10 fours. Lainson was taken ill after the start of the match and unable to bat in either Suffolk innings. Trudgett played with a damaged hand, and the 140 runs he conceded were the most in an innings during the season. The Cambridgeshire total of 488 was the second highest of the season. When dismissing Catchpole in the Suffolk second innings, Gray took his one hundredth wicket in championship matches.
