Glamorgan won by an innings at 3.30 pm on the second day, after Berkshire followed on 214 runs behind on first innings.
Glamorgan had also won when the teams met at Reading earlier in the month. For the victors, Creber took 14 wickets for 144 runs, including 8 for 59 in the Berkshire second innings. His bowling for the match and for the second innings were both statistically the second best bowling performances during the season. He had also taken 14 wickets in the Reading game.
Russell scored 143. Morgan's 105, made in an hour and 45 minutes, contained 16 fours and 4 threes. The pair put on 148 runs for the third wicket, which was the second highest partnership for the third wicket during the season. Glamorgan's total of 428 was a new record for the team and the third highest of the season. On the first day 581 runs were scored, a new record for the Championship, exceeding the 569 in the Durham v Northumberland match at Philadelphia in 1897. R Lowe's 5 catches in the match equalled the best for a fieldsman during the season with two others. Dauglish had strained a leg in the previous match at Swindon, so Watts kept wicket for Berkshire.
