Surrey 2nd XI won by eight wickets at around 5 pm on the second day. For the winners, there was 1 six, 21 fours, 3 threes and 4 twos in Pretty's 142, scored in 3 hours, whilst W J Baker's 58 included 10 fours. In the visitors' first innings, Pretty and W J Baker added 81 runs for the seventh wicket, and W J Baker and Clode put on 64 runs for the ninth wicket. For the losers, E W Elliot's 86 contained 1 six and 15 fours. In the Surrey first innings, all sources listed - including the Durham scorebook - have the runs conceded by the Durham bowlers 10 short.
