Berkshire won this match seven minutes before time, after declaring and setting Oxfordshire a victory target of 220 runs in two and a half hours. For the winners, Morres top-scored with 57, and there were 5 fours in Croome's 51. In the Berkshire first innings, Morres and Croome put on 105 runs for the fourth wicket, and Corry and Chapman 53 for the seventh. For the visitors, Schwarz's 86 included 11 fours. In the Berkshire first innings, Arnold held 4 catches, which equalled the wicket-keeping record for the competition held by himself and T Smart of Wiltshire. Arnold's four catches in the match were the most for a wicket-keeper in the season. Arnold split a finger keeping wicket in the Berkshire second innings, and C C Bradford took his place behind the stumps with A B Croom acting as substitute fielder. For the third year running, Oxfordshire played only six county matches and did not qualify for the Championship, but their matches counted as championship matches for their opponents -- Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire.
