Berkshire won by an innings and 132 runs at 4.00 pm on the second day, after Hertfordshire followed on 229 runs behind. For the victors there were 13 fours in Chapman's 94, scored in 150 minutes, 6 fours in Nepean's 75, scored in 105 minutes, and 8 fours in Dauglish's 52 scored in 35 minutes. Croome took 10 wickets in the match for 85 runs. In the Berkshire innings, Chapman and Barrett added 61 runs for the seventh wicket and Croome and Dauglish 82 runs for the ninth wicket. White's 62 for Hertfordshire included 9 fours.
