Notes
--> Carmarthenshire first innings batting adds 14 runs under
--> Carmarthenshire second innings batting adds 10 runs over

Phillips took 6 wickets in the first innings and 1 in the second but it is not known which of them bowled
There is an obvious problem with "Lord Emlyn" (in Carmarthenshire's batting) and "Campbell" who
took nine wickets for Carmarthenshire but is not recorded in their batting order. I suggest that
they are probably the same, "Lord Emlyn" being the courtesy title of the heirs to the Earls Cawdor
of Castlemartin (whose surname was Campbell). The person entitled to the description "Lord
Emlyn" in the summer of 1860 was John Frederick Vaughan Campbell (b 1817) who succeeded to
the main title in November 1860 so I have to assume that he's our man. (Neither "Emlyn" nor
"Campbell" played in the return fixture, thus removing an opportunity for testing this assumption.)
