Notes
--> Bowling in the Cheltenham College second innings adds 7 runs over

Our thanks to Arthur Haygarth for collecting the information and to Roger Heavens for providing this scorecard which was first published in Arthur Haygarth's Cricket Scores and Biographies Volume 16. Copies of the book can be obtained from http://booksoncricket.net . Additions or corrections to this scorecard would be gratefully received.
The finish was most exciting and unique, for with the last ball of the last over prior to "time", the Cheltenham Captain (Forrest) bowled over Hoste's wicket. This was the eighth match between these schools and the first victory of Cheltenham. In another account the match was played on June 14 and 15. In yet another account the score differs in several places as follows: In the second innings of Cheltenham College, Clowes is c Kent b Harrison, and Glass is c Reynolds b Hoste. In the second innings of Clifton College, Carey scores 14, Cooper 4, Harrison 13, and Richardson 5.
It may be mentioned here that Clifton College was founded in 1862 by a company and has already produced some excellent cricketers.
